Every night
I sleep with a leopard
Golden pale spotted
Aura’s dotted divinity in sight.
–
The Sun shone through her
With the vengeance of a thousand spurned lovers
Women from untold generations.
–
Not viewing new
What the surroundings hide
Do we blame such surroundings
For accomplicing lies?
Oh the stunning print
Of the leopard’s coat
How we forget it’s for disguise.
–
And her lurid eyes
Predation is not alone
Are her claws just for killing
Has not nature set the tone?
Has she asked me to join her
In roaming this great pasture
Believing we’re different?
–
I cannot say I saw
Other than what was before me
I can’t say I asked
For anything less
In the end
It was all for joy and rapture
Simply because it was in our nature.
